About the Role

Fowler Diesel Service is hiring an experienced Mobile Towing Technician to operate our 30-ton wrecker and provide dedicated 24/7 breakdown support.

This role is critical to maintaining consistent towing coverage while supporting shop productivity. We are looking for a skilled, self-sufficient professional who can confidently handle roadside environments and transition between towing, mobile service, and shop work as needed.

This is not an entry-level role. The right candidate must be able to perform immediately.

Compensation

  • $30/hour base pay + overtime

  • Expected annual earnings: $70,000–$90,000

  • Overtime driven by on-call participation and call volume

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a 30-ton wrecker for heavy-duty breakdown recovery (non-accident)

  • Respond to 24/7 on-call service needs

  • Travel to breakdown locations and prepare trucks for safe towing

  • Remove driveshafts and perform necessary roadside mechanical work

  • Transport vehicles to shop or customer locations

  • Coordinate with dispatcher and assist with payment processing

  • Perform diesel mechanic work during downtime

  • Maintain flexibility between operating the wrecker, running the service truck, and assisting in the shop as needed

Schedule

  • Shop Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

  • After Hours: On-call from home

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Valid CDL with at least 2 years of truck driving experience

  • Clean driving record

  • Heavy truck driving experience

  • Diesel mechanic experience

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability

  • Ability to work independently and respond to calls at any hour

  • Willingness to rotate between wrecker, mobile service truck, and shop duties

Preferred

  • Rec Master Certification (not required)

  • Certification reimbursement available upon successful completion
