Job Description

Automotive shop in Newport News VA is searching for an experienced shop manager who aims to give our customers the best vehicle service experience possible. Achieving this requires honesty and courtesy in all circumstances. As Store Manager, you are responsible for ensuring your store achieves this goal. What they are looking for:

  • Oversee operations to attain sales and vehicle goals and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Oversee the hiring and training of an effective auto service team.
  • Greet customers, ascertain their needs, and communicate them to the technicians.
  • Oversee the inspection of automobiles to identify faulty components and facilitate repair processes.
  • Supervise the activities of automotive service technicians to ensure efficient job performance and
  • timely repairs.
  • Conduct price negotiations with clients to reach a favorable bargain for Big Al’s and clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of all transactions. Examples include but are not limited to work orders,
  • converter warranty cards, inventory receipts, timesheets, deposits, etc.
  • Monitor inventory to regulate and ensure the availability of required vehicle parts.
  • Ensure automotive service staff comply with environmental laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the procurement of vehicle parts, automotive equipment, and other items required in an
  • auto service facility.
  • Evaluate the performance of automotive service staff to acknowledge efficient employees and guide
  • underperforming ones.
  • Listen to client complaints and assist in addressing their issues and resolving challenges.
  • Oversee the disposal of wastes such as used engine oil to ensure adherence to health and safety
  • laws.
  • Assign and schedule work duties to auto service staff according to their skills.
  • Follow up with customers to obtain feedback and ensure they are satisfied with the service that
  • they received.
  • Attend workshops and study relevant publications to stay updated with developments in the
  • automotive service industry.
  • Ensure that all shop equipment is maintained and all safety mechanisms are in good working order.
  • Make Ensure the grounds, service bays, restrooms, office, and lobby are maintained, kept clean, and
  • organized.
  • Encourage employees to behave professionally and maintain a clean, professional appearance.

  • Necessary Skill and Training.
  • To become an automotive service manager, you must have prior experience in the field of auto
  • service.
  • Automotive service managers should be able to effectively interact with clients to identify their
  • requirements and facilitate processes to meet customers’ needs.
  • Automotive service managers should be well-versed in conducting vehicle inspections to identify
  • faults and initiate repairs.
  • Automotive service managers should be able to coordinate and direct the activities of an auto
  • repairs shop to ensure efficient work operations.
  • Ability to lift an object weighing up to 60 pounds.
