Position Summary

Promotive is hiring an experienced Master or LEAD Automotive Technician for a well-established independent repair shop in Suffield, CT. This shop has served its community for over 40 years and has built a reputation for honest work, strong customer relationships, and consistent business.

This role is ideal for a diagnostic-heavy technician or shop lead who enjoys solving complex electrical and drivability issues while helping guide a small team. The position offers hourly pay starting at $35/hr with the potential to earn MORE after you show what you can do, a stable Monday–Friday schedule, and the opportunity to play a key leadership role in a respected local shop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced diagnostics and complex repairs on domestic, Asian, and some European vehicles

  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, drivability concerns, and intermittent vehicle issues

  • Oversee and support other technicians to ensure repairs are completed accurately and efficiently

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians when diagnosing difficult problems

  • Perform repairs including brakes, suspension, steering, drivetrain, and general mechanical systems

  • Use modern diagnostic equipment and scan tools to identify vehicle issues

  • Maintain accurate repair documentation and communicate clearly with the office staff

  • Keep a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience as an Automotive Technician

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills (especially electrical diagnostics)

  • Experience working on domestic and Asian vehicles (European experience is a plus)

  • ASE certifications preferred but not required

  • Leadership or foreman experience is a plus

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Self-starter who takes initiative and works well in a small team environment

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly pay starting at $35/hr with potential to earn MORE once you prove yourself (based on experience)
