Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled A-Level Automotive Technician with strong leadership and shop management abilities in Hudsonville, MI. This role is ideal for a master-level technician who excels in advanced diagnostics and major repairs while also supporting team productivity, workflow organization, and overall shop performance.

This is a hands-on leadership position — perfect for someone ready to step into a Lead Technician, Shop Foreman, or Working Shop Manager role.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced diagnostics on drivability, electrical, and mechanical systems

  • Diagnose and repair complex issues including:

    • Engine performance and internal repairs

    • Advanced electrical systems and CAN bus diagnostics

    • Transmission and driveline systems

    • HVAC and climate control systems

  • Accurately interpret wiring diagrams and OEM service information

  • Able to use a Lab Scope with ease

  • Ensure first-time fix accuracy and minimize comebacks

  • Perform thorough digital vehicle inspections (DVI)

Leadership & Management Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily shop workflow and technician productivity

  • Assist in dispatching work and prioritizing repair orders

  • Mentor and train B- and C-level technicians

  • Support service advisors with technical insight and repair planning

  • Maintain shop efficiency, organization, and safety standards

  • Assist in quality control checks before vehicle delivery

  • Foster a positive, team-oriented shop culture

  • Help drive performance metrics including billed hours, ARO, and CSI

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional automotive technician experience

  • Proven A-Level / Master-level diagnostic capability

  • Must have Michigan State License

  • Strong background in electrical diagnostics and drivability troubleshooting

  • Experience leading or mentoring other technicians

  • Ability to balance production with team support responsibilities

  • Experience in independent shop or dealership environment

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred

Certifications (Preferred)

  • ASE Master Certification

  • L1 Advanced Engine Performance (strongly preferred)

  • State Inspection License (if applicable)

  • OEM certifications a plus
