Master Diagnostic Automotive Technician – $45–$50/hr – No Weekends

Location: Centreville, MI
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Range: $45 – $50/hr (Hourly + Production Bonus)
Earning Potential: $95,000 – $105,000+ annually
Pay Schedule: Weekly

Position Summary

Promotive is hiring an experienced Master Diagnostic Automotive Technician for a well-established, family-run repair shop in Centreville, MI. This role is ideal for a technician who thrives on advanced diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, and drivability issues rather than routine R&R work.

You’ll serve as the shop’s diagnostic specialist, using advanced scan tools, scopes, and testing procedures to identify complex vehicle issues. With a strong team of technicians handling most component replacements, you can focus on what you do best — solving the hardest problems and keeping the shop moving efficiently.

This is a Monday–Friday position with no weekends, consistent hours, strong benefits, paid training, and a performance bonus structure that rewards accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting on all makes and models

  • Diagnose electrical, drivability, and module-related issues using advanced testing procedures

  • Utilize scan tools, lab scopes, and diagnostic equipment to pinpoint complex vehicle problems

  • Provide diagnostic direction to B- and C-level technicians performing repair work

  • Complete digital vehicle inspections (DVIs) and repair documentation using Tekmetric

  • Perform voltage drop testing, parasitic draw testing, and circuit load testing

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment

  • Participate in ongoing paid training and certification development

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional automotive technician experience with strong diagnostic focus

  • Michigan Master Technician License (or ability to obtain shortly after hire)

  • ASE certifications preferred, including L1 Advanced Engine Performance Specialist

  • Strong understanding of electrical diagnostics and testing procedures

  • Experience with scan tools, scopes, and module programming

  • Ability to accurately diagnose complex drivability issues

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening
