Automotive Technician (A Level Diagnostics / Strong B+ Technician)

Location: Wilmington, NC
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | No Weekends
Pay Plan: Flat Rate – $30 to $50 per hour (based on experience and skill level)
Guarantee: 60-Day Production Guarantee (40 hours/week month one, 30 hours/week month two)
Expected Hours Flagged: 40+ per week
Earning Potential: $62K – $150K+ annually depending on experience and productivity
Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly
Relocation Assistance: Tool relocation assistance available

Position Summary

Promotive is hiring an experienced Automotive Technician for a highly respected independent repair shop in Wilmington, NC. The shop is seeking either:

  • An A Level Diagnostics Technician capable of handling advanced drivability and electrical diagnostics, OR
  • A strong B+ Level Technician with solid repair and diagnostic skills who is looking to continue growing professionally.

This is a Monday–Friday opportunity with no weekends, working in a clean, climate-controlled facility with modern equipment, strong leadership, and a technician-first culture.

Compensation

A Level Technician

  • Flat Rate Pay: $40 – $50 per flagged hour
  • Expected Earnings: $83K – $150K+ annually

Strong B+ Technician

  • Flat Rate Pay: $30 – $40 per flagged hour
  • Strong earning potential based on productivity and experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on drivability, electrical, and engine performance concerns
  • Diagnose and repair domestic, Asian, and European vehicles
  • Complete repairs including:
    • Brakes
    • Suspension & steering
    • Cooling systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Engine performance repairs
  • Use professional diagnostic equipment including Autel and Snap-On scan tools
  • Perform digital vehicle inspections (DVI) and document recommendations clearly
  • Work closely with service advisors and parts staff to maintain efficient workflow
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment
  • Deliver high-quality repairs focused on safety, reliability, and customer trust

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of automotive technician experience preferred
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability
  • Independent repair shop experience preferred
  • Ability to work efficiently and consistently flag hours
  • Experience with domestic, Asian, and/or European vehicles
  • ASE certifications preferred but not required
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug screen

A-Level technicians are expected to handle advanced diagnostics and complex repairs while helping mentor and support the team when needed. Strong B+ technicians should be comfortable handling most repair work independently and possess growing diagnostic capability.
