Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Pay Rate: $25-$35/hr
Pay Type: Hourly + Production Bonus
Pay Schedule: Bi-Weekly
Earning Potential: $70,000-$75,000+ Annually

Position Summary

Promotive is hiring a skilled B Level Automotive Mechanic for a growing independent repair shop in Blacksburg, VA. This family-owned operation is reopening and expanding, creating an exciting opportunity for an experienced mechanic who enjoys diagnostics, mechanical repairs, and working in a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform automotive diagnostics, maintenance, and repair services on domestic, Asian, and European vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair braking systems, suspension systems, steering systems, and chassis components.
  • Complete shock absorber replacement, strut replacement, brake inspections, brake repairs, and general mechanical services.
  • Perform wheel alignments, vehicle inspections, and preventative maintenance services.
  • Utilize diagnostic scanners and testing equipment to identify vehicle concerns accurately.
  • Conduct Digital Vehicle Inspections (DVI) and document repair recommendations clearly.
  • Maintain productivity goals of 40+ flagged hours per week.
  • Collaborate with service staff and fellow mechanics to ensure efficient workflow and exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of professional experience as an Automotive Mechanic or Automotive Technician.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with light to intermediate automotive diagnostic skills.
  • Experience servicing domestic, Asian, and European vehicles preferred.
  • Comfortable using digital inspection software and modern diagnostic equipment.
  • ASE certifications are preferred or willingness to obtain certifications after hire.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Virginia State Inspection License required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must pass background check and drug screening.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly pay: $25-$35/hr based on experience
  • Production bonus program:
    • 40 flagged hours = +$2/hr bonus
    • 45+ flagged hours = additional +$2/hr bonus
